Wilson O. Clough, a poet, author, and scholar, was on the faculty of the University of Wyoming from 1924-1961, and chair of the English Department from 1946-1949. Clough was instrumental in establishing the American Studies program at the University. His book "A History of the University of Wyoming, 1887-1964" commemorated the 75th anniversary of the University's founding. From the description of Wilson Ober Clough Papers, 1875-1994. Louis Simonin (1830-1886) was a mining engineer who traveled in California and the West in 1867. He published a report of his travels titled Le Grand-Ouest des Etats-Unis (1869). This work was translated into English by Wilson Ober Clough, a former professor of American Studies at University of Wyoming.
